On Sunday 4th February Pearl Handled Revolver will return to the recording studio to work on their ninth release, this time an acoustic based album. The recording will feature new previously unheard material with the addition of some live recordings from a selection of the bands recent successful unplugged shows.
The Pearl Handled Revolver acoustic sound first came about when the band was asked to perform one of their early BBC live sessions, challenging them to refine their then ‘heavy psychedelic blues’ sound. This led on to their 2011 limited edition EP release ‘Ouroboros’ and a series of shows in intimate venues giving them a chance to play their songs in a very different way using acoustic guitars. As with ‘Ouroboros’ Pearl Handled Revolver are never fully unplugged, so the album will heavily feature Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric piano, becoming a major part of the PHR more stripped back sound, naturally with slabs of blues harp for good measure…… so don’t go thinking Pearl Handled Revolver will be going all ‘easy listening’ on you.
The album is expected to be released in the Spring this year, supported by some shows in carefully selected venues. Watch this space for further details.
